Reservations, drop-off and pickup

How do I request a reservation?

Reservations are requested through our Gingr portal. New customers create an account first, which is also where you upload vaccine records and sign our agreements. Returning customers log in and request dates.

New Customer Guide

Is my reservation confirmed as soon as I submit a request?

No. Every request is reviewed by our team before it is confirmed. For boarding, a 20% deposit holds your reservation. A request can be held for 48 hours without a deposit, after which it is released.

How do I contact you about an existing reservation?

Call, text or email us and we will pull up your reservation. Changes to pickup contacts, dates or add-ons are easiest by phone during lobby hours.

Contact details

How far ahead should I request a stay?

Space is limited, especially around holidays, school breaks and the winter season, so request dates as early as you can. A 20% deposit holds a boarding reservation once we confirm it.

What are your business hours?

Lobby hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Saturday is by appointment only. Sunday is boarding pickup only, by request, with an additional fee. Boarding drop-off and pickup run daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We are staffed 24/7 for boarding guests but closed to the public on major holidays, and daycare is not available on weekends or the week of a major holiday.

Where are you located?

17602 State Highway 107, Harlingen, TX 78552, on the highway outside town. Please keep pets leashed or in a carrier in the parking area.

Map and directions

How does curbside check-in work?

When you arrive, text HERE to our reminder number and a team member will come out to you. Please bring your pet on a leash or in a carrier. We are on Highway 107, so this matters.

Check-in details

Can someone else drop off or pick up my pet?

Yes, as long as they are listed on your account. Pets are released only to the owner or to a pre-approved person, and a valid photo ID is required at checkout. To add someone, let us know in advance by phone, text or email.

What happens if I need to change or cancel my reservation?

Boarding deposits are non-refundable with less than 48 hours' notice before the start of the stay. Holiday stays need at least 72 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule without penalty. No-shows keep the deposit.

What should I do if I'm running late?

Call or text us as soon as you can. Pickups after hours may carry a late pickup fee or an additional night of boarding, depending on timing. For grooming, pets should be picked up within two hours of our ready notification.

Vaccinations and eligibility

What vaccinations are required?

Dogs over one year: Rabies, DHLPP and Bordetella are required. Canine Influenza and a negative fecal exam are recommended. Cats: Rabies, FVRCP and Feline Bordetella are required, with a negative fecal exam recommended. Proof must show the clinic name, vaccine and date, and be submitted at least 48 hours before the reservation or appointment.

Do you accept puppies?

Yes. Puppies are welcome once they are fully vaccinated: all three rounds of their DHPP puppy shots (also written DAPP or DAPPv on vet records), plus Rabies and Bordetella. Most puppies finish between three and four months old, depending on when their shots started.

Do you accept senior, nervous or anxious dogs?

Yes, we welcome senior, nervous and anxious dogs. If your dog has never boarded or tends to be anxious, we recommend starting with a short first visit so they can meet us first.

Do you accept dogs who don't socialize with other dogs?

Yes. Dogs who don't socialize are kept separate from other dogs. We do not accept excessive aggression toward other dogs, such as lunging, challenging or inappropriate snapping, and we do not accept aggression toward people of any kind.

What if my dog has never boarded before?

For first-timers and anxious pups, we recommend starting with a half day of daycare and the social assessment. Your dog gets to meet us and then goes home fairly quickly, which helps make their first experience a positive one.

About the social assessment

Do you offer services for cats?

Yes. We board cats in multi-section condos with supervised time in our cat room, and we offer cat grooming starting at $75. Daycare is for dogs only.

Cat boarding

Does my dog need to be spayed or neutered?

All dogs over nine months are strongly encouraged to be spayed or neutered. For daycare it is required after one year of age. Exceptions may be considered for younger puppies, and we may ask for it earlier if hormone-related behavior affects the group. Intact pets may need special accommodations and may carry additional fees.

Boarding and during their stay

What should I bring for my pet's stay?

A collar with an ID tag, food pre-portioned per meal and labeled with your pet's name, any medications in their original containers, and one or two washable familiar items such as a towel or blanket. We provide beds, bowls and toys.

Packing checklist

Can you administer medications?

Yes. We give oral, topical and injectable medications, including insulin. Bring them in their original containers with clear dosage and timing instructions. Basic administration is $2 to $5 per day. Insulin or medications given three or more times a day may cost more. Tell us about medical needs in advance so we can prepare.

Can I bring my pet's own food?

Please do. Pre-portion each meal and label it with your pet's name. House food is available for a fee, though sudden diet changes can cause digestive upset.

How often are dogs taken outside?

At least four times a day. Add-on services such as adventure walks and sniff-and-explore outings add more time outside.

How are dogs grouped for playtime?

By temperament and size. Group sizes vary with how many social dogs are staying with us, and dogs who don't socialize are kept separate.

Can I request special feeding or care instructions?

Absolutely. Let us know what your pet needs. Depending on how much specialized attention is involved, an additional fee may apply.

What happens if I pick up my pet earlier than planned?

You are charged for the actual length of the stay. If you prepaid, the difference stays on your account as credit, or we return it to you if you ask.

Do you offer enrichment activities or add-on services?

Yes. Our enrichment menu ranges from extra treats to one-on-one time, adventure walks and birthday celebrations, for dogs and cats. Add-ons must be requested at least 24 hours before the reservation closes.

See the enrichment menu

Can I request an exit bath before pickup?

Yes. Exit baths start at $20 and should be requested at least 24 hours ahead. They are time-sensitive, especially for dogs with heavy undercoats, so earlier is better.

Can I receive photo updates during my pet's stay?

Yes. We share photo updates and report cards so you can see how their stay is going while you're apart.

Do pets receive individual attention?

Every pet is cared for as an individual. Activities are matched to temperament and comfort level, and not every pet joins group play. One-on-one time is also available as an add-on.

My pet lost a little weight during their stay. Is that normal?

It can be. New surroundings and more activity can lead to mild weight loss. If your pet is active or energetic, you are welcome to send extra food or increase portions, and we will adjust feeding to match their energy.

Dog daycare

Is a social assessment required before daycare?

Yes. Every dog completes a social assessment before joining daycare so we can evaluate their social behavior and whether group play is a good fit. Submitting a request does not guarantee approval.

What does the social assessment involve?

It takes about two hours and costs $20. We look at your dog's overall temperament, play style and ability to listen.

What are your daycare hours?

Daycare runs Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Pickup after 5:00 PM is possible, but dogs who are not picked up by 6:30 PM stay for overnight boarding. The boarding night is charged on top of that day's daycare fee.

What are the requirements for participating in daycare?

Current required vaccinations, a completed social assessment showing your dog is low-risk and non-aggressive, and spay or neuter after one year of age. Participation is evaluated continually.

Can my dog's daycare participation be discontinued?

Yes. For the safety of every pet, we may pause or end daycare if a dog's behavior or other circumstances warrant it.

Can my dog attend daycare if they prefer not to play with other dogs?

Daycare is built around supervised group play, so it is not the right fit for every dog. Call us and we will talk through options, including boarding add-ons like one-on-one time and adventure walks.

Grooming

What grooming services do you offer?

For dogs: Bath & Brush ($40 to $60), Maintenance Groom ($60 to $100) and Styled Coat Groom ($75 to $120). Cat grooming starts at $75 and is customized to the coat. Final pricing depends on coat length, temperament and matting.

Grooming services

Do you groom nervous or anxious pets?

Yes. We aim to keep every groom low-stress. If conditions become unsafe for your pet or the groomer, we stop the groom and reschedule it.

How much time will my pet spend waiting before grooming?

We schedule as-you-go, with the goal of getting your pet to the table promptly. Some kennel time may occasionally be necessary, but we keep it to a minimum.

How will I know when my pet is ready for pickup?

We text or call when grooming is complete. Please pick up within two hours of that notification.

What happens if my pet has matted fur?

Severely matted coats may need to be shaved or de-matted, which can leave temporary skin irritation or an uneven look. We will talk with you about the safest option for your pet.

What if my pet has fleas?

Pets must be free of fleas and ticks. If we find them, a flea treatment is given at the owner's expense, or the session may be stopped.

Can a grooming session be stopped?

Yes, if a pet's behavior makes the session unsafe, or if a medical or behavioral issue we were not told about comes up. The full fee still applies. Please share allergies, injuries, anxiety or aggression when you book so we can plan for them. Appointments are cancelled after a 15-minute no-show without a call, and late or cancellation fees may apply.

What vaccinations are required for grooming?

The same as for boarding: Rabies, DHLPP and Bordetella for dogs, and Rabies, FVRCP and Feline Bordetella for cats, with proof submitted at least 48 hours before the appointment.

Health and safety

What happens if my pet becomes sick or there is a medical emergency?

We contact you and your emergency contact right away. If we cannot reach you or the situation is urgent, we seek care from a licensed veterinarian. Veterinary costs are the owner's responsibility.

Which veterinarian do you use?

Gingr keeps your pet's current veterinarian on file, and your preferences are always considered. In an emergency, Ruffin' It chooses the veterinarian based on how severe and urgent the situation is and the time of day, for example after normal vet hours.

How do you handle pets with special care needs?

We give needed medications, adjust our schedule to fit your pet, and keep you updated on any concerns. Additional fees may apply. Some pets are too medically fragile for us to care for safely, such as paralyzed pets or dogs whose bladder must be expressed by hand, pets who have just had surgery, and cats wearing a cone. If you are unsure, call us and we will talk it through.

What happens during extreme heat or severe weather?

We limit time outside and offer plenty of indoor activities. South Texas heat can be brutal, so we keep fresh water available and watch dogs closely during midday potty breaks. Most dogs are pretty good about telling us when they're ready to head back inside.

What happens if my pet displays unsafe behavior?

We may suspend services and ask that your pet be picked up within 24 hours. Pets must be in good health, free of parasites, and without a history of aggression toward people or animals.

Are there safety rules for arrival and pickup?

Yes. Every pet must arrive wearing a collar and ID tag, and we strongly recommend a leash or carrier because we are right on Highway 107. Pinch, chain and choke collars are not allowed. If your pet arrives without a collar, a rental collar is available for a fee.

Pricing

How much does boarding cost?

Dog boarding is $45, $60 or $75 per night depending on kennel size. Cat condos are $40 per night. Family rates are available, so call us if you are boarding more than one pet.

Boarding prices

How much does daycare cost?

$35 for a full day and $25 for a half day of under five hours. The social assessment every dog completes before daycare is $20.

Are there additional fees or holiday charges?

Possible extras include medication administration ($2 to $5 per day), house food, a rental collar, Sunday pickup, late pickup and intact-pet accommodations. Holiday stays require 72 hours' notice to cancel. Call us for anything specific to your pet.
